Meet the Farmers
Andre Faul, Sr.
I grew up on a farm in South Africa where I was exposed to the principles of sustainable farming. Although I pursued a career in Electrical Engineering, I always wanted to have my own farm. I worked as a consulting engineer in South Africa, and since moving to the USA I obtained my PhD in Electrical Engineering and am currently teaching at the J.B. Speed School of Engineering at the University of Louisville. In my spare time I co-manage the farm with my son and daughter in law and am involved in the daily operations of the farm
Andre Faul, Jr.
From a very early age I have been fascinated with animals and the outside world. I knew that one day I would be working with animals, be it in conservation of wild animals or raising them on a farm. I have always had a passion for the ocean as well which led me to pursuing a masters degree in Aquaculture at The University of Miami. The opportunity arose for me to manage our newly acquired farm in Henry County, KY and I saw this as a way to fulfill my passion of working more closely with nature and animals. I co-manage with my wife the daily operations on the farm which includes our poultry, pigs, our cow-calf operation and our Saltwater Shrimp production system.

My farming journey began in late 2020, right in the midst of the pandemic. After my decade long career came to an unexpected halt, I saw it as a chance to seek out some thing that truly fed my soul-and I found farming. I got my start as a farmhand and herdswoman on a small, grass-fed grass-finished cattle operation run by an older farmer. Under his guidance, I learned the ins and outs of responsible, ethical cattle farming and developed a deep appreciation for working with the land and animals. It was that same farmer who later introduced me to Andre-and we've been inseparable ever since. Today, we manage this beautiful family farm side by side, and we truly are the best team. There's nothing more fulfilling than doing the work you love, with the one you love, in service of the community you love.
